Peace be unto you in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Amen!
Today we will read Genesis 38:1-10
Let us start with a prayer:
Praise the Lord!
Praise God in His sanctuary;
Praise Him in His mighty firmament!
Praise Him for His mighty acts;
Praise Him according to His excellent greatness!
Praise Him with the sound of the trumpet;
Praise Him with the lute and harp!
Praise Him with the timbrel and dance;
Praise Him with stringed instruments and flutes!
Praise Him with loud cymbals;
Praise Him with clashing cymbals!
Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.
Praise the Lord! Psalm 150
Let’s continue where we left off!

Judah and Tamar
Verse One: It came to pass at that time that Judah departed from his brothers, and visited a certain Adullamite whose name was Hirah.
Verse Two: And Judah saw there a daughter of a certain Canaanite whose name was Shua, and he married her and went in to her.
Verse Three: So she conceived and bore a son, and he called his name Er.
Verse Four: She conceived again and bore a son, and she called his name Onan.
Verse Five: And she conceived yet again and bore a son, and called his name Shelah. He was at Chezib when she bore him.
Verse Six: Then Judah took a wife for Er his firstborn, and her name was Tamar.
Verse Seven: But Er, Judah’s firstborn, was wicked in the sight of the Lord, and the Lord killed him.
Even though Romans 6:23 tells us that the wages of sin is death, we thank God that we do not have to die in our sins anymore. If we confess our sins, God is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9
God loves us and does not take any pleasure in the death of the wicked. Rather, He is pleased when we turn from our ways and live. Ezekiel 18:23. So much so that in order for us to not die in our sins and be lost to Him forever, He sent His only Son down here from heaven to be a sacrificial lamb for the cleansing of our sins so that our names can be written in the book of life guaranteeing a spot in heaven for us. Thank you Jesus Christ.
Verse Eight: And Judah said to Onan, “Go in to your brother’s wife and marry her, and raise up an heir to your brother.”
Verse Nine: But Onan knew that the heir would not be his; and it came to pass, when he went in to his brother’s wife, that he emitted on the ground, lest he should give an heir to his brother.
What Onan did was an immorality of a sexual nature. He vindictively decided that if the heir would not be his, he would waste his semen first before he would give an heir to his brother.
Verse Ten: And the thing which he did displeased the Lord; therefore He killed him also.
In Genesis 1:27-28 when God created mankind, he blessed them and said; “Be fruitful, increase in number and fill the earth. Any act that contradicts that commandment is a sin.
Moreover the word of God warned us that whoever is united with the Lord is one with him in spirit. Therefore, we should flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body. Our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in us, whom we have received from God. We are not our own; we were bought at a price. Therefore we should honor God with our bodies. 1 Corinthians 6:17-20
Thank you for reading the bible with me.
I want you to know, that no matter who you are out there or what your history is, God promises salvation to you and the blood of Jesus Christ, God’s son, cleanses you from all sin. No matter what you have done you will be forgiven and saved as long as you accept Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, that He sent down here from heaven to be a sacrificial lamb for the cleansing of our sins so that our names can be written in the book of life guaranteeing a spot in heaven for us.
Jesus Christ is coming soon, sooner than you think! He could come back for his followers at any time, so we should make ourselves ready. If you have not accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and savior, pray this with me from your heart: Lord Jesus I’m a sinner, you died on the cross to save me from my sin, you shed your precious blood to wash away every taint, every stain and now I believe in you Jesus. I accept you as my Lord and my savior. Come into my heart, save me with your precious blood. In your Holy name I pray. Amen.
I hope you prayed that prayer with me. God willing, I’ll see you tomorrow.
